Holly Dicker

Holly Dicker is a club culture journalist, independent radio broadcaster and author of the forthcoming book Dance or Die: A History of Hardcore.

She has bylines in The Wire, The Guardian, Mixmag, Electronic Beats, DJ Mag and Resident Advisor, where she was a former staff writer and regular contributor to the RA exchange series.

Holly has hosted various conference and festival panels covering hardcore music scenes past and present, the changing role of women in the dance music industry, and the harder styles revival that has defined club culture around the pandemic.

She has written long form pieces on historic techno and rave institutions such as Tresor and Thunderdome, and is an authority on Dutch gabber subculture as curator of the multimedia exhibition A Brief History of Gabber for Google Arts & Culture.

Together with filmmaker and sound designer Dennis van Rijswijk she has produced a short documentary about the rise and fall of Rotterdam rave culture (2024) for digital TV channel OPEN Rotterdam. Holly lives in Rotterdam.
