Southport Weekender logo

Founded by Alex Lowes in 1987, the Southport Weekender began by catering for soul music fans across the North of England. After moving from Blackpool to Morecambe, it found its home in Southport, where its popularity grew rapidly. It attracted audiences from across the UK and around the world with a diverse mix of soulful music, spanning house, hip-hop, soul, garage and more.

For 40 years, the Weekender has been an essential destination for artists and music lovers alike. It has helped launch many careers and played a leading role in establishing highly influential sounds, including house, garage and R&B. Following several years at Butlin’s Minehead, the event moved to its new home at Butlin’s Bognor Regis.
