Stef Macbeth

Stef Macbeth is a freelance writer and commercial creative based in Berlin. He grew up in the southwest of England, studied at the University of Glasgow, and received the Edward Caird Medal for Philosophy in 2005.

In the early 2000s, Stef was part of the creative team at Sub Club, Glasgow, where he worked with artists such as Optimo and Harri & Domenic, and helped steer the narrative of one of the UK’s longest running independent electronic music venues.

Since moving to Berlin in 2013, he has been involved in a series of collaborations with artists, companies, social enterprises and cultural institutions, both in Germany and the UK. His work has appeared at international shows including Borealis Festival and Cannes Lions.

In 2023, a version of his debut novel FOLK was longlisted for the McKitterick Prize, awarded by the British Society of Authors each year to a first novel by a writer aged 40 or over.
