  • Happy publication day to Take No Prisoners: The Desert Storm Sound System story. It’s an autobiography of the Desert Storm founder, the late Keith Robinson.

Keith, or Keef to his friends, was a pioneering figure in the free party scene who tragically died in 2016. In 2011, he started writing his autobiography but never completed it. It’s taken this long and lots of hurdles to overcome to bring his story to the world.

The book covers his childhood and first forays into parties (and brushes with the law) in Glasgow, the infamous trips to Bosnia during the Balkans conflict, the anti-Criminal Justice Bill and Reclaim The Streets demos in Trafalgar Square, joining the army and serving in Afghanistan.

The book also includes many photos from Keith’s life, a foreword by Matthew Collin, an epilogue by Ray Philp featuring the full transcript of his interview with Keith in 2015 and afterwords from Desert Storm members B Storm and Bizzy.

🔗 Available now at velocitypress.uk/shop and all good bookshops and record stores

  • Happy publication day to Dance or Die: A History of Hardcore by Holly Dicker. Dance or Die is the first deep dive into global hardcore culture, from its Frankfurt roots in the early 90s to Rotterdam raves, Berlin bunkers and beyond.

Holly Dicker traces how hard dance communities have evolved over three decades, shaped by politics, gentrification, and resistance. This isn’t a nostalgic throwback - it’s a living, breathing story told through archive finds, scene voices, and personal memories from those who’ve lived it loud.

🔗 Available now at velocitypress.uk/shop and all good bookshops and record stores

Through the summer and autumn Dance or Die will head on tour, featuring Holly presenting an excursive music, heritage and discourse programme in collaboration with local radio stations, club communities and grassroots spaces across the UK and Europe.

LONDON: Wednesday 9 July at STANDALONE with Velocity Press
MANCHESTER: Sunday 13 July at Renae with 20K & A Dead Sheep
ROTTERDAM: Thursday 17 July with PRSPCT and Eendracht Festival
AMSTERDAM: Friday 26 September at Killacutz Records with Hard Attack

  • In 1994, the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act tried to silence a generation, shutting down free parties and squat raves in a sweeping crackdown on youth culture. But it only sparked resistance, igniting a legacy that still burns today.

Now, over 30 years later, UK dance music faces a new threat. With three clubs closing every week since the pandemic, the future of nightlife hangs in the balance. If the trend continues, all UK nightclubs could be gone by 2029.

Section 63 is a defiant response. In this stunning photobook, Yushy dives deep into London’s underground rave scene, capturing a new wave of DIY spirit and cultural resistance. From abandoned warehouses to forgotten corners of the city, Yushy documents crews risking everything to bring music back to the people, just for one night.

It’s a visual tribute to the scene’s resilience — raw, intimate, and fiercely alive. A powerful continuation of Yushy’s work documenting dance culture, every image speaks to both the present and the past.

Section 63 is due in shops on 3 October, but pre-order now at velocitypress.uk/shop to get a free print and receive it first in September.

  • Our latest poster has just arrived. It celebrates 32 years of Desert Storm Sound System as we’re about to publish Take No Prisoners, the posthumous memoir of DS founder Keith Robinson. It’s an A2 (42 cm x 59.4 cm) poster and printed on heavyweight matt-laminated paper.

The poster is out now, and the Take No Prisoners book is scheduled for release in mid-June. Buy both at velocitypress.uk/product/take-no-prisoners-book

“Keith was one of the most remarkable and inspiring characters in UK rave culture history – an intrepid motivator who led a thrilling life to a heartbreaking conclusion.
Matthew Collin (author of Dream Machines, Rave On and Altered State)

“Keith fearlessly brought the healing energy of music to where it was most needed. Whether that was across borders into war-torn Bosnia, or through police roadblocks to fill the empty spaces in Britain’s soul.”
Mark Angelo Harrison (author of A Darker Electricity: The Origins of the Spiral Tribe Sound System)

“I think in any life, and especially the party scene, just occasionally we come across someone whose charisma, energy and sheer lust for life takes your breath away. They say that those stars which burn the brightest burn the fastest and that was Keith. A rare soul, a legend, a tragic loss…”
Harry Harrison (author of Dreaming in Yellow: The Story of the DiY Sound System)

Happy publication day to Take No Prisoners: The Desert Storm Sound System story.

In 1994, the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act tried to silence a generation, shutting down free parties and squat raves in a sweeping crackdown on youth culture.

Our latest poster has just arrived.
